ELTERMA was originally founded in 1950 as a state owned company in Swiebodzin, Poland, 75 km from Frankfurt-Oder, Germany and 110 km from Poznan, where the nearest international airport is located (next to the main international road Berlin-Warsaw).

Established as a manufacturer of metal heat treatment equipment, ELTERMA has become a leading equipment supplier for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union).

At the highest period of development, which took place during the decade of the 1970’s, the number of employees at the ELTERMA plant totaled 1200 people which gave the very efficient productive work force. ELTERMA gained further technical expertise by purchasing the license from IPSEN International USA for the production of many new types of vacuum and controlled atmosphere furnaces. This relationship was further enhanced in the eighties with another American company, ABAR Corporation.

From the 1980’s the export of equipment produced by ELTERMA to many countries around the world was enhanced due to trade cooperation with the Agency of International Trade called METALEXPORT.

As the result of the deep economical crisis caused by the political changes in Europe and the former Soviet Union in 1980 – 1990, the company experienced a total restructuring of staff and assets, creating a more efficient operation with lower overhead costs. Responding to a lower demand for heat treatment equipment, ELTERMA had to adapt the enterprise size to the potential of the market. ELTERMA started production of complex steel structures, tools and machinery for a variety of industry sectors.

In the mid-nineties the demand for heat treatment equipment returned, and ELTERMA was positioned to provide equipment and services more efficiently to a larger client base in Western Europe.This was essential for the long-term development of ELTERMA, which helped with the ownership changes which took place in the beginning of year 2003.

In January 2003, ELTERMA was acquired by strategic investor, private company SECO/WARWICK Ltd.

SECO/WARWICK Ltd. was originally founded in 1991. It is a company with a 50% American capital share. Until now both companies ELTERMA and SECO/WARWICK Ltd. were leading their business activities in the range of similar production assortment.

In line with the SECO/WARWICK Group Poland strategic plan, ELTERMA became responsible for the production of controlled atmosphere and air atmosphere heat processing equipment for metals. Consequently ELTERMA can now offer over fifty years achievements in this field as well as know-how acquired from its strategic partner SECO/WARWICK, this essentially increases the actual offered products range and simultaneously makes it more competitive for our customers.

Present employment at ELTERMA totals 236 people including 48 engineers (mechanical, electrical design engineers). Since ELTERMA’s acquisition by SECO/WARWICK the financial condition of the company has improved considerably. Since 2001 the company does not use any bank credits and keeps high financial fluency. Economical indicators of ELTERMA in comparison with other enterprises of the group have been successively improved, with the result of an increase in turnover in sales and profitability. Much of the profit is allocated to the development and modernization of the firm, which confirms ELTERMA’s strong position in the market place and increases the technical and price competitiveness of the products ELTERMA can offer. Because of the company restructure plan, all efforts and expenditures are focused on development of our major products line – heat processing equipment and systems for metals under controlled and air atmosphere.
